MM cells express VEGF mRNA.

(A) Total RNA (5 μg) from control NBM1-2, patient MM1-5, RPMI 8226, and SV MM cell lines was size separated on a 1.4% agarose-formaldehyde gel, blotted, and probed with a ³²P-labeled VEGF cDNA probe that recognizes VEGF transcripts of approximately 3.7 to 4.4 kb. A³²P end-labeled oligonucleotide probe for 18S rRNA was used as the loading control. (B) Patient MM1-5 cells and 2 MM cell lines were lysed, immunoprecipitated with wt p53 and mutant (mt) p53 mAbs, and subjected to immunoblotting with an anti-p53-HRP mAb.
