The congenic C57BL/6J mice received marrow from B6.SJL CD45.1+ donors after 1000 cGy radiation. The allogeneic C57BL/6J recipients received marrow from BALB/c donors after 900 cGy radiation. The mean number of each thymic subpopulation from non-BMT controls (n = 5) and either phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) or keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) pretreated bone marrow transplant (BMT) recipients (n = 8-10 per group) is shown. All values are cell numbers × 10−6 ± SD, followed by the mean percentage of each thymic subpopulation in parentheses. The significance of the differences in absolute numbers between the groups is indicated below the absolute number in each cell:P1 indicates non-BMT control versus PBS;P2, non-BMT control versus KGF;P3, PBS versus KGF.
