H and L ferritin content were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, with the use of subunit-specific antibodies, and recombinant mouse H or L ferritin for calibration. Results are the mean ± SD of values obtained for three 25-week-old or three 45-week-old animals of each genotype and are expressed as μg recombinant ferritin per gram wet tissues.
