Freshly sorted CD34+CD81+, CD34lowCD81+, or CD34+CD81high cells were inserted into nonobese diabetic/severe combined immunodeficiency (NOD/SCID) mice (1 × 104 cells in each recipient). Mice were killed 12 to 16 weeks afterward and their bone marrow (BM) cells were analyzed by flow cytometry.
