Ten mixed hematopoietic colonies derived from either CD34+CD81+ or CD34lowCD81+ cells were chosen randomly from semisolid cultures on day 10 of culture. Clonal cells were individually centrifuged on slides and then stained with May-Grünwald-Giemsa solution. The percentages shown were obtained by counting 300 cells in one sample in at least 5 observation views. For CD34+CD81+ cells, mean ± SD values were 75.5% ± 11.9% and 24.5% ± 11.9%, respectively, for erythroid and myeloid colonies. For CD34lowCD81+ cells, values were 97.5% ± 1.6% and 2.5% ± 1.6%, respectively, for erythroid and myeloid colonies.
