Marrow cells (5 × 104 per well) were obtained by femoral aspiration. Each number (± SD) is the mean of 3 wells in 3 different experiments, using 2 independent chimeric animals. CFU-mix consisted of colonies with erythroid and megakaryocytic component and colonies with granulocytic, macrophagic, and megakaryocytic without any erythroid component. Multipotent CFU-GEMMk were composed of granulocytic, erythrocytic, macrophagic and megakaryocytic components.
