The units were nanomoles per milligram of protein per minute for glutathione-S-transferaseπ (GSTπ); milliunits per minute per milligram of protein for glutathione peroxidase (GPx); micromoles of H2O2 decomposed per milligram of protein per minute for catalase. Apoptosis (percentage of apoptotic cells) was quantitated by fluorescence microscopy in cultures treated for 2 days with 2 μmol/L As2O3. All data shown represent the mean ± SE of 3 independent experiments.
