Stem and myeloid progenitor populations were enumerated by flow cytometry. All numbers indicate absolute numbers, in thousands, of cells recovered (n = 3; mean ± SEM).

The total number of cells in each population was estimated based on the assumption that tibiae and femora comprise 20% of total marrow space.27
