AECC diagnostic criteria for ALI and ARDS

ALI
  • Bilateral infiltrates (seen on frontal chest radiograph)

  • PaO2/FiO2 ≤ 300 mm Hg

  • PAOP (PCWP) ≤ 18 mm Hg, or absence of clinical evidence of left atrial hypertension (LAH)

ARDS
  • Bilateral infiltrates (seen on frontal chest radiograph)

  • PaO2/FiO2 ≤ 200 mm Hg

  • PAOP (PCWP) ≤ 18 mm Hg, or absence of clinical evidence of left atrial hypertension (LAH)
