Characterization of Four IL-7–Dependent Pre-B–Cell Lines: Lack of Response to Stromal Cell-Derived Growth Factors Other Than IL-7

The ability of IL-7–dependent pre-B–cell lines to proliferate to other growth factors as single factors (left) or in combination with IL-7 (right) was determined by 3H-thymidine incorporation and presented as a ratio of incorporation induced by the indicated growth factor(s) ± IL-7 to the incorporation induced by either media (left) or IL-7 (right) alone. The average cpm ± SD from triplicate wells of the baseline responses are given and were set to 1.00 for each cell line. The results shown are from one experiment. Each cell line was tested in two to five experiments. IL-7 was used at 1.0 ng/mL; SCF was used at 5.0 ng/mL; IGF-1 was used at 10.0 ng/mL; and FL was used at 200 ng/mL. No synergistic effects were found at concentrations of 0.01 to 10 ng/mL of IL-7, 5 to 10 ng/mL of SCF, and 50 to 200 ng/mL FL (data not shown).
