The value found for Leu was set at the theoretical value of 18.0 and used to normalize the values for the other amino acids. The values for Cys, Met, Tyr, and Trp are very low or absent because they are partially or completely destroyed under the conditions of acid hydrolysis in the presence of oxygen. For the amino acids underlined, there are significant differences between the amounts in the α- and β-chains.
